MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital is a 93-bed full-service facility delivering emergency, acute inpatient, and outpatient care. Founded in 1912, our not-for-profit hospital has a long tradition of delivering quality care in the waterside community of Leonardtown, Maryland. Specialties and expanded services include bariatrics, cancer care, imaging, orthopedics, vascular surgery, neurology, oncology, women’s care, and breast health, among others. With innovative technology and a dedication to excellence, our staff is committed to providing you and your family quality care with a compassionate touch.

Continually improving our hospital

With state-of-the-art equipment and an ongoing commitment to improving our facility, MedStar St. Mary’s now features a newly-remodeled OB/GYN unit with more renovations planned to improve the patient and visitor experience. We are also expanding into new service lines to better serve our community.

We reinvest our earnings into our community and are committed to improving patient care. Our community outreach program, Health Connections, promotes healthy living through free and low-cost seminars, classes, support groups, health fairs, and demonstrations.

Our nursing
residency program

We foster the growth of new-to-practice nurses through our residency program and partnerships with our local technical center and community college ADN program. The result is a cohort of clinically sound, empowered, and committed nurses.

We are a community hospital dedicated to our associates.

In Spring 2020, we received our fourth consecutive “A” for patient safety in The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Grade—biannual assessment measuring preventable errors, accidents, injuries, and infections in hospitals.

Highlighting our excellence in stroke care, we received the "Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Silver Plus Achievement Award with Honor Roll Elite" from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.
