MedStar Southern Maryland has a strong partnership with neurosurgeons and neurologists from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Our stroke program is recognized for its outstanding quality and outcomes and has earned certification as a Primary Stroke Center by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS)—reflecting our commitment to providing expert, lifesaving care for stroke patients.

Advanced Cancer Care


The MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center delivers advanced cancer care with leading-edge technology, including the ZAP-X® Gyroscopic Radiosurgery platform—one of the first in the world at the time of installation—and the Halcyon™ image-guided radiation system. The Center also features a modern infusion suite, women’s imaging, and access to clinical trials.

Expert Cardiovascular Care


MedStar Southern Maryland is home to a leading cardiac catheterization laboratory, where life-saving interventions for heart attack patients, elective angioplasties, and diagnostic procedures are performed. Our hospital also features an electrophysiology (EP) lab specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders, offering advanced procedures to manage conditions such as atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, and ventricular arrhythmias.

Comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology Care

Our obstetrics and gynecology program includes a Level II Special Care Nursery, where on-site physicians from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital provide specialized care for infants born as early as 32 weeks. With advanced technology, expert clinical support, and a family-centered approach, we ensure a safe, comfortable experience for mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.
